Release in the early morning or evening when it's cool and shaded — this keeps both predators calmer and more likely to stay put. Water your plants lightly beforehand so ladybugs settle in easily and lacewing larvae can move around and find aphids without trouble.

Place ladybugs directly onto leaves near aphid colonies rather than releasing them into open air or onto bare soil. Release lacewing larvae right away after opening the container, setting them directly on infested foliage — the faster they reach aphids, the better, since a delay means they'll start looking at each other for a meal instead.

Hold off on any pesticides, even organic ones, for about two weeks before and after release. For ongoing aphid pressure, additional releases every 1–2 weeks will help keep populations down until things are back under control.
