Thrips Control Garden Pack - 200 Orius + 25k Cucumeris with Hanging Boxes + 25 Million Beneficial Nematodes
TARGET PESTS
This garden pack targets all life stages of thrips.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
What's In This Pack
200 Orius insidiosus (minute pirate bugs)
These little predators don't wait around — they actively hunt down thrips at every stage of life, from egg to adult, right on your plants' leaves and flowers. As a bonus, they'll also snack on mites, aphids, and moth eggs if they come across them.
25,000 Amblyseius cucumeris + 5 hanging boxes
This is our heavy-infestation dose, aimed squarely at thrips larvae on foliage — working alongside the Orius above ground. The hanging boxes let you park the mites right at your worst trouble spots, and they keep the product dry and viable longer than loose application would.
25 million Sf beneficial nematodes
This is the piece that handles what you can't see: thrips pupae hiding in the soil. Applied at full heavy-infestation strength, these nematodes go after pupae before they can mature and emerge as the next generation of egg-laying adults.
Why the combination matters: thrips spend part of their life cycle on your plants and part of it in the soil — so a single product only ever gets half the problem. This pack was built to hit both halves at once, at curative (not just preventive) strength, so you're not only dealing with the thrips you can see today, but also cutting off the wave that would otherwise show up in a couple of weeks.
How It Works
Orius and cucumeris both patrol your plants, just differently — Orius is a hunter that goes after thrips of any age, while cucumeris zeroes in on the larval stage. Down in the soil, Sf nematodes are working the shallow layer where thrips go to pupate, infecting them with bacteria before they get the chance to become adults and start the cycle over. Since every component here is dosed at full curative strength, this pack is designed for gardeners dealing with an infestation that's already taken hold — not for prevention.
INTRODUCTION RATES
This pack is sized for approximately 200 sq. ft. at heavy-infestation application rates across all three components.
| Component | Rate | Frequency |
| Orius insidiosus | 1 orius per sq. ft. (200 total) | Multiple introductions recommended |
| Cucumeris bottled mites | 10-15 mites per sq. ft. (125,000 mites would fully saturate 200 sq ft at this rate — 25k provides an initial dose to combine with Orius, not a standalone full-rate treatment) | Weekly, as needed |
| Sf nematodes | 5 million per 50 sq. ft. (25 million total) | Weekly or bi-weekly |
Temperature Considerations
Orius insidiosus: 50°F–94°F; to avoid diapause, keep above 73°F, or above 50°F with supplemental lighting
Cucumeris: 54°F–80°F
Sf nematodes: 59°F–79°F soil temperature
Narrowest shared window across all three: roughly 73°F–79°F, where every component stays fully active.
APPLICATION
Application Instructions
Orius & Cucumeris: Sprinkle these gently over infested plants, or use the hanging boxes to focus coverage right on your worst trouble spots. Leave the open containers out for 24–72 hours so any stragglers have time to make their way out and get to work. Keep them off the soil — they're meant for the plant itself, not the ground below it.
Sf Nematodes: Mix with water between 59–69°F and apply to soil that's already been pre-moistened. A watering can or sprayer both work fine. After applying, keep the soil consistently moist for two weeks, and try to avoid runoff so the nematodes stay where you put them.
Pro Tips
- Take down yellow sticky traps for the first few days after releasing Orius and cucumeris, otherwise you'll catch your own beneficials along with the thrips.
- If you've got ants in the picture, deal with them first. Ants will actually protect honeydew-producing pests from all three of these biological agents, undercutting the whole treatment.
- For an infestation that's already active, one release of Orius usually isn't enough — staggered, repeat introductions work much better than a single drop.
